Antique English Regency Square Mahogany Tilt-Top Centre Table

About the Item

This beautiful large square tilt-top table was made in England, circa 1850. The top is made in genuine mahogany with vertical grain. The top is 1.38 inches thick and is 55.71 by 52.36 inches. The top Is beautifully polished and shows a warm aged patina. Raised on a robust tapering round central column. It is attached to a large and stabile hyperboloid platform raised upon four bun feet. The bun feet are fitted with the original hidden solid brass castors. The tilting mechanism has its original solid brass latch and catch. The table is exceptionally large and will easily sit up to eight people. The piece has solid joints and construction and is ready for use. The table was gently cleaned in our atelier. Minor damages to the veneer of the platform were restored. The top was slightly lighter than the base due many years of exposure to the sun, this was restored to its original luster while retaining its patina. The whole piece has been carefully waxed and polished for the years to come.
