Victorian Dressing Table, Mahogany, Metal, Glass, England, 19th Century

About the Item

Vanity unit made of mahogany carved wood with the front legs turned as clusters topped by vase-shaped pieces, drawer on the front and a recessed upper body with three drawers on each side and a space closed to the center, under the rectangular mirror, which has been enhanced with vegetable decorations pierced on the sides and a small pompadour of architectural motifs at the top. It is known as Victorian style to the tax during the reign of Victoria I of Great Britain towards the second half of the 19th century, popular in the country and very influential beyond its borders. The cleaning of lines contributes to highlighting the veins of wood, of great quality, and refer to a long tradition in English furniture, almost always characterized by fewer decorative elements than French.
