17th Century Italian Architectural Fragment with Carnelian Pebbles and Raw Agate

About the Item

17th century Italian hand-painted ecclesiastical architectural element adorned with carnelian pebbles, gold-plated crystals, blue and yellow raw agate, and baroque pearls. The fragment artifact came from the interior of a church altar and it was probably above a figure of Christ. The minerals coordinate with the original paint of the piece. The baroque pearls are shaped as crosses and line the center and decorate the carnelian pebbles. The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows that the Italian architectural fragment is originally 17th century. Together, the piece has been preserved and transformed into a work of art.
