About the Item
Sculptural 18th century Italian gilded fragment artifact with phantom quartz and mounted on raw agate.
The piece originally comes from a historical church in Italy. INRI is written on the piece which stems from the Latin phrase 'Iesus Nazarenus Rex Iudaeorum' meaning 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews'. The phantom quartz and agate match the colors and texture of the artifact to look as thought the piece evolved together over time.
The piece is put together by Jean O'Reilly Barlow, the artist and creative director of Interi. The date of manufacture reflects when she transformed the piece and the period shows that the Italian fragment is originally 18th century.
Together, the elements create a contemporary yet historical work of art and ecclesiastical significance.
