18th century Italian fragments decorated with aragonite and pyrophyllite with a sculpted canvas, strata of oil paint layers, finished with Italian raw umber glaze and pozzolana (dry ground volcanic ash) for aging. This antique wall decoration from France has an overall oblong, just shy of 6.5 feet in length, having a horizontally positioned shape, with a level, wooden top rail draped with several smaller swagged ribbon carvings, and a larger three-dimensional, hand carved swagged wreath in sunflower and foliage motif below, which gathers at center with a bow.
