Burmantofts Faience Lustre Rampant Lion Plaque by Joseph Walmsley
About the Item
A stylish Burmantofts Faience art pottery wall plaque with rampant lions by Joseph Walmsley and dating from the latter 19th century. The circular plaque is hand painted with six rampant lions around the edge with a central circular abstract scroll pattern decorated in a rich ruby lustre glaze. The plaque has a cream glazed base and has impressed Burmantofts and Leeds Fireclay marks along with painted initials T.L.
In good condition with a small underglaze making flaw to the rim.
