About the Item
A striking Swedish mid-century wall plaque decorated with an abstract stylized bird and a girl by Mari Simmulson (1911-2000) for Upsala-Ekeby. The stoneware plaque is of rectangular shape and is decorated with a geometrical patterned bird presenting a flower held in its beak to a young girl. The design combines colors and textures set against a blue ground. The plaque is signed to the lower edge and has impressed pottery marks to the reverse with hanging holes and an attached hanging loop.
