18th Century Grisaille 'Moonlight', in the style of Charles Lacroix de Marseille

About the Item

We present you this exquisite grisaille painting representing a moonlit harbour scene in the style favoured by the French artist Charles-François Lacroix de Marseille (1700-1783). He was an artist known for creating landscape and marine paintings in a manner influenced by the styles of Claude Joseph Vernet, Jean-Joseph Kapeller (1702-1790), and Henry d'Arles. The original frame shows some minor signs of wear. This artwork dates back to the late 18th to early 19th century and measures 64x54 cm, including the frame. This painting can be accompanied by another artwork depicting a similarly peaceful setting, which is available in our inventory. These pieces can be purchased either as a set or individually.
