About the Item
19th c. Regency English/European School. Formal portraits of a husband and wife in formal dress. The background depicts a distant mountain landscape. Oil on canvas with original stretcher and frame. No signature detected.
There are lovely details contained in each of these portraits. The lady's hairstyle, jewelry and lace wrap are beautifully rendered. The gentleman's stock pin is a subtle embellishment to an otherwise staid outfit.
