About the Item

Signed "A.J." Oil painting on canvas depicting a romantic autumn scene with a view of the sea from the vantage point of a wooded meadow. Painting is very well-executed with the beautiful handling of light in the foreground contrasted by the chiaroscuro clouds that threaten rain over a turbulent sea. Comes with original gilded wood frame which is particularly beautiful and complements this lovely painting. Possibly Scandinavia, circa mid to late 1800's. Measures: Frame 17" wide x 19 1/4" high x 2 1/2" deep; Canvas 10" wide x 12 3/4" high.
