Stunning example of a late Nineteenth Century rare Miniature Portrait Watercolour on paper within its original hinged lid velvet lined leather case, unsigned, possibly by an English talented artist depicts
Portrait of English Novelist and Social Critic Charles Dickens.
Beautiful item enclosed within its original tooled leather case, complete with its working brass clasp.
Condition: Superb condition with no losses, no evidence of repairs, Painting is clean and fresh with no foxing (images show darkening shadows this is caused by the slightly cushioned glazing).
Height: (overall as shown) 5.25” (13cm). Width: 4.5” (11.5cm). Depth: 1” (2.5cm).

Charles John Huffam Dickens 1812 –1870) was an English novelist and social critic who created some of the world's best-known fictional characters, and is regarded by many as the greatest novelist of the Victorian era. His works enjoyed unprecedented popularity during his lifetime and, by the 20th century, critics and scholars had recognized him as a literary genius. His novels and short stories are widely read today. Wonderful portrait, beautifully painted.
