Born in Cork, Ireland, James Martin Griffin (1850-1931) was an American landscape painter and active artist in the Bay Area of Northern California in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. He is known for realistic, naturalistic landscape and nature scene painter in oils and watercolors
He was a pupil of James Brennon at the Cork School of Art and immigrated to San Francisco in 1885. From 1912 to 1915 taught painting at the California College of Arts and Crafts.
