Antique Naive Cornish Portrait, Original 18th Century Oil on Canvas Painting

About the Item

Original Antique Oil on Canvas Painting Coming from a Cornish estate, it was said by the previous owners that the subject was a tin miner, although by the looks of it, I imagine it would be the owner of the mine. Dating from the 18th Century. Painted in an expressive yet somewhat naive style. Unsigned, there may well be some information verso but don’t want to remove the original backing. In the original gilt gesso frame. The painting is generally in good vintage order there are a few small areas of wear but nothing too serious and no holes or tears to the canvas. The frame largely survives well but there are some minor losses. Overall measurements: 82cm x 67cm x 5cm.
