Francesco Netti spends almost fifty years of his life away from his family and his country of origin. In 1843, in Naples, he studied at the San Carlo alle Martelle college of the Piarist fathers and in Naples he graduated in law. He has private painting lessons with Domenico Morelli and in 1855 he entered the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples; he then continued his painting studies in Rome (1856-1859) and made educational trips to Florence, Turin, Venice, Padua, Ferrara, Bologna and Ravenna. He makes friends with artists, including Achille Carrillo, Giuseppe Bonolis, Tommaso De Vivo, Michele De Napoli, Adriano Cecioni, Marco De Gregorio...
