A 1960 oil on canvas by Mexican artist Carlos Orozco Romero depicting a violet human figure seated by a clear table with the Moon on her right. The painting is signed and dated on the lower right. It is framed inside its original fixture.

Carlos Orozco Romero (1896 - 1984) was a Mexican painter and cartoonist born in Guadalajara. The son of a humble tailor, Orozco studied under bohemian landscape painter Luis de la Torre, who would take him to paint landscapes outside the city. He also was an apprentice to Brazilian painter Félix Bernardelli. His ability earned him a scholarship to study in Spain from 1921 to 1925. He would also get the prestigious Guggenheim Foundation scholarship in 1940. A professor of many generations of 20th Century Mexican painters, Orozco Romero was a fierce defender of easel painting during the golden years of muralism. His style and shapes were a definitive influence in artists like Rufino Tamayo, Carlos Mérida and Roberto Montenegro.
