About the Item
Pair of Modernist original paintings with a Cubism feel. Steel frames project from wall surfaces in a sculptural form.
Frames have been selected to both highlight and contrast from the paintings. Mexican rusty steel, handmade frames wonderfully provide a tactile feel in a similar manner that the painter has created the paintings, full of texture.

All artwork was acquired from an artist, R. Wagner’s Midcentury home in Youngstown, OH. All artwork created in the 1950’s-1960’s were created when Wagner worked alongside popular artist Ralph Humphrey while studying painting at Youngstown University, serving as Wagner’s teacher & mentor.
In the late 50’s, Humphrey and Wagner relocated to New York, where they entered the art community that included such luminaries as Theodoros Stamos and Mark Rothko.
