About the Item
A finely executed early 20th century 'plein air' landscape by noted British landscape artist Henry John Kinnaird, titled ‘View of Winchester Cathedral’ bottom left, signed bottom right, set within what appears to be its original early 20th century gilt gesso frame fronted by a glazed panel.
Dimensions: (sight) 13.25" high x 20.5" wide, frame dimensions: 21" high x 27.75" wide x 3" deep.
Henry John Kinnaird (1861-1929) was a highly accomplished British artist who excelled at painting country landscapes & river views.
He exhibited nine works at the prestigious Royal Academy in London (RA) and eight works at the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) Suffolk House. He is listed in the 2nd Edition of 'The Dictionary of Victorian Painters' by Christopher Wood, as well as in the 2nd Edition of 'The Dictionary of British Watercolour Artists up to 1920' by H.L. Mallalieu.
