French 19th Century Pair of Framed Porcelain Plaques

About the Item

A French 19th Century hand painted polychromed Pair of Porcelain Plaques One Representing two Putti in the clouds, among one is hitting the Arrow of Love After the painting by Adolphe-William Bouguereau (1825-1905), “L’Amour Vainqueur” The other one two Cupids sitting on a flowered tree branch, one whispering in the other’s ear. Both signed J.Bernard Napoléon III Period Circa 1880 Plaque dimensions: H 31 cm L 25 cm. In its originals blackened wood and gilt lacquered frames The original painting (164 x 122 cm ) by Adolphe-William Bouguereau (1825-1905) was created in 1886 and was in a Texas private Collection in 2010, illustrated in Bartoli, Damien & Ross, Frederick C. (2010), William Bouguereau: His Life and Works p. 323.
