About the Item
This great Mid-Century Modern painting by George Coggeshall has vibrant colors with abstract forms. All is signed and has the luscious and vibrant layering of colors of plums and purples to reds to blues to oranges, to pinks to greens. George Coggeshall studied in Luxenberg France and also attended the infamous Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris. He also studied at the Art Institute in Chicago. He was a commercial artist in the 1960s in the Midwest. He is best known for his great color compositions that illicit dimension, form and abstractions. He is no longer living. His work hangs in private institutions and private collections. He did a short work stint with Playboy and Esquire magazines and worked for one of the most prolific advertising companies in Chicago called Leo Burnett. His work hangs in private collections and hangs in the Illinois State Museum as well as the Smart gallery of the University of Chicago. When one studies his paintings, one finds different abstractions and cubist forms from each new viewing. This particular painting is from 1967. It will be that more enhanced with a great custom frame choice at your end. This is our last painting remaining of this artist. It is not framed now and may need to be re stretched.
