"Homage to Homer"
Oil on canvas, signed lower left
Auer was famous for his mythological scenes, he also became one of the most celebrated copiest of his time.
This painting was done in 1897 and it was his 99th copy. It was for many years in one of the executive offices of the National Bank of Austria.
This is a rendering of one of the paintings of the Pre-Raphialite School.
