About the Item

This charming Orientalist watercolor has everything : A secluded courtyard, a pretty girl , two pigeons and a monkey. This is a well-painted scene by a talented watercolorist at the top of his form. His skillful use of light and shade, and the elegantly clad figure all combine to create a romantic and exotic scene. Verso it bears a label from the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours. The frame is a bit banged around and we include it in "as found" condition

    Minor fading. The painting is offered in its original carved and gessoed frame. There Is a beaded molding missing on the bottom edge of the image and another on the edge of the frame itself which is scuffed and with minor losses.
