About the Item
A 1990 acrylic on canvas painting by the American artist James Wille Faust (born 1949). This vibrant work depicts a layering of shapes and designs painted in such a way to create an optical illusion of floating objects and dimensionality. Signed and dated to. the lower right, the painting is also signed, dated and titled to the verso. The painting is unframed.
Faust grew up on a farm in rural Lapel, Indiana. During the late 1960s he attended summer classes in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. He later graduated in 1971 with a BFA from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis and an MFA from University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana in 1974.
