About the Item

This is an Oil Painting of a Flamboyant or Royal Poinciana Tree. It depicts a large leafy Flamboyant Tree in a breezy countryside road in Puerto Rico. Some red petals have fallen in the roadside. In the back of the tree, you can appreciate a sunny day with blue sky, a tropical grassland and far away some small hills. The painting is mounted in a dark brown wooden frame. A red border enhances the inside of the frame. The painting is signed in the left lower side J. Romero ( that stand for Jorge Romero ) who is a 20th century Puerto Rican painter born in Ponce, PR in 1950. He studied Art with two very recognized Puerto Rican painters, Miguel Pou and Epifanio Irrizarry, and he also followed studies of art in New York. His early paintings are realistic depicting Puerto Rican local customs/manners and landscaping. He has exhibited in Ponce Museum of Art and other Art Galleries in PR. Recently, he has been doing Abstract paintings and sculptures.
