About the Item
This beautiful, antique painting on canvas was painted in Italy, circa 1959. The artwork features a Classic, Venetian scene; the scene shows a waterfront view of the Doge's Palace with gondolas in the foreground. The Classic, Italian cityscape painting is set inside a carved giltwood frame and shows a realistic rendering of space and perspective. On the back you'll find a glued letter with additional information about the artist and the year of production (see last picture). The architectural painting is in excellent condition with rich colors and exquisite details throughout.
The Doge's Palace is a palace built in Venetian Gothic style, and one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice in northern Italy. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the former Republic of Venice, and opened as a museum in 1923. Today, it is one of the 11 museums run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.
The artist, was born July 8th 1880 in Sneek, Holland.
