An English Turn of the Century oil on board horse painting from the early 20th century titled "The Saint" Prize Hunter of England, in an antique frame. Created in England at the Turn of the Century, this oil on board horizontal painting depicts a splendid horse standing in a spacious box stall. The horse is represented standing sideways, his muscular body reflecting the light beautifully. He is turning his head slightly to the side to look at us, thus inviting us in the scene. The walls are bare expect for the corner bracket, and their neutral tones highlight the beauty of the horse's coat. The ground is covered with hay whose warm tones give a perfect conclusion to the ensemble. The title names him The Saint and he is a hunter, meaning that the horse and rider jump a course and the judging is based on the horse's accuracy, grace and elegance. The painting is signed indistinctly and is set inside an antique gilded frame carved with rais-de-cœur and beads. With its elegant subject and skillful depiction, this English Turn of the Century oil on board painting titled The Saint circa 1900 will enliven any wall beautifully!
