Pair 18th Century Irish Georgian Portraits in Original Giltwood Frames

About the Item

A very handsome and well executed pair of 18th century Irish Georgian portraits. Both executed in pastels on paper laid down on canvas, set within their original 18th century giltwood frames that retain much of their original gilding. The reverse of both panels bearing remnants of old handwritten paper labels denoting the sitters as those of William Pritchard, together with his wife Sarah Pritchard (nee FitzGerald), purportedly a family relation to James FitzGerald, 1st Marquess of Kildare & Duke of Leinster. Both pastels remain in very good overall condition with a few minor blemishes, the foundations are quite sound with some minor separations observed at the top & left hand side of the portrait of William Pritchard. Both portraits are apparently unsigned. Dimensions: (sight) 20" high x 16" wide, (framed), 28.5" high x 24" wide x 2.75" deep. (For the benefit of viewing clarity, as well as for shipping, the glass panels were removed from both portraits prior to photography).
