The Barque of Dante is a seminal painting by Eugène Delacroix, marking a transition from Neoclassicism to Romanticism. Loosely inspired by Dante's Inferno, the work depicts Dante and Virgil crossing the River Styx, guided by Virgil through the fiery City of Dis.
