Pierre Legendre, Accord II, circa 1980

About the Item

Pierre Legendre (1932-2009) Accord II oil on canvas circa 1980 Measures: 116 x 81 cm. Pierre Legendre, born in 1932 in Haute-Marne, moved to Paris at the age of 22. After classes at the Estienne school in Paris as well as those of the Beaux-Arts, he worked for several big houses and was the originator of logos for big brands like Hermès or Nina Ricci. He entered the academy of the painter Henri GOETZ, which allowed him to familiarize himself with abstract, geometric art. He exhibited from the 1970s, as in 1979 at UNESCO in Paris. A discreet painter, he nevertheless participated in the 80s and 90s in many artists' salons (Comparaison, Grand et Jeunes d'Aujourd'hui, Réalités Nouvelles). Pierre Legendre is of deep integrity, of great moral rigor, his geometric and abstract art also reflects a quest for spirituality and philosophical reflection. Although denying itself to belong to Concrete Art, Legendre by its taste for purism and the immateriality of the straight line is not so far removed from, among others, the art of Jean Gorin or that of Morellet or sometimes the kinetics of a Cruz Diez next to which it was exhibited in Strasbourg in 2000 by the Galerie Claude Dorval. "The language that Pierre Legendre built for himself starting from the straight line is intended to be pure, almost transparent and original. The artist leaves painting only what is essential to him. So he is wary of symmetries, of recourse to mathematical formulas and to measurement. For him, these are earthly things that belong to a surveyor's geometry. • Oil on Canva Polo Game by Pierre Bosco-Circa 1960
    By Pierre Bosco
Located in Saint Rémy de Provence, FR
Oil on canva Polo Game by Pierre Bosco (1909-1993)- Circa 1960 Signed lower right Pierre Bosco, born January 29, 1909 in Visco, in the province of Udine, and died March 3, 1993 in Vernouillet, was an Italian painter and lithographer. He is best known in the 1970s as the painter of sport and horse racing. In the 1950s, he began to achieve greater success by participating in an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris, where his paintings received praise. The following year, he exhibited fifty paintings at the Galerie du Hérisson in front of an enthusiastic public. The French press associates paintings from this period with "bewitching magic", and according to the poet Guy Lavaud, "Bosco is a powerful painter and a visionary." For three consecutive years, the painter was selected for the prestigious prize of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. 1956, Bosco signs a fifteen-year contract with the famous Galerie de l'Elysée in Paris for an exclusive representation. At this stage of his career, Pierre Bosco has reached a maturity appreciated by art connoisseurs as well as by the press which is unanimous in praising his "dazzling visions"; Le Figaro considers him "as one of the greatest painters of his generation" and the New York Herald sees him as "the last Picasso in perspective, and very fashionable" (May 14, 1957). In 1964, he exhibited at the Max Bodner Gallery in New York Pierre Bosco occupies a privileged place among American and European collectors, particularly in France and Italy, but also in Scandinavian countries. Many Hollywood celebrities such as Kirk Douglas, Robert Mitchum, Jack...
