In the foreground is The Dead Christ, lifeless and limply reclining on Mary's knees, supported and adored by a woman who, kneeling on the left side of the composition, touches his hand with her face, and by two sad and adoring Angels on the right side.
The figure of Mary, with her head encircled by a shining halo, looks toward the viewer with an expression charged with emotion and fatal inconsolability.
Particularly intense in its rendering of the feelings that mark all the figures depicted, the painting is in a good state of preservation.
It is framed by a 16th-century Venetian temple with columns in the round, various carving movements, and closed at the top by two opposing cornucopias.
