Portrait of a 19th century soldier in a stable by Marius Roy marine painter This portrait representing a grenadier is nicely lit, in fact, the soldier is reading a letter by the light of an oil lamp. Everything was produced by Marius Roy. Marius Roy (1853-1921) is a French painter specializing in the representation of military scenes in an academic style. He strives to depict a more human, almost social vision of the soldier by making the representation of a soldier's daily life into real military genre scenes. The work has been restored and cleaned, it is in good general condition. We report classic signs of wear and friction on old paint. Our photos allow you to appreciate the quality of the work.
