About the Item
Vintage folk art style oil painting by Trevor James depicting a young girl holding a posey basket. The young girl has a serene facial expression and there is a gentle and quiet stillness about her.
The style of the her hair, her lace trimmed blue dress and the pretty posey basket are typical elements of folk art paintings of the 18th and 19th century. The wooden frame has a purposely distressed varnished finish with a giltwood effect on the outer portion of the frame.
Trevor James is a relatively lesser-known artist whose works have circulated in auctions, particularly in the U.S. and Europe. His paintings depict a variety of subjects, from landscape scenes to portraits and more symbolic representations. His art shows a blend of traditional techniques.
