About the Item
An absolutely beautiful vintage oil painting on mahogany panel of three black and white dogs, perhaps Border Collies. The painting is skillfully painted and signed by H. Ed. Capel. The French inscription on the back indicates that the painting was a gift to Alain for his 4th birthday (March 23, 1948) from his godparents in Wezembeek in Belgium. A vintage black and gold frame surrounds the panel. It's unclear if the painting is contemporary to 1948 or painted earlier.

Panel measures 7.5"h x 11.5"w x .25"d
Condition commensurate with age and use. Slightly dirty on the painting surface. Scratches on the frame.

A charming vintage oil on fiber board painting of a young child with a blue and white cup and a piece of bread (?). Painted in shades of warm brown, pinks, maroons and whites. Surface abrasions and scratches are evident from rough handling. The board is stable and the paint is not flaking. There is some craquelure in the upper left and lower right quadrants but it is not loose. Framed in an old Victorian frame which has some losses due to age but is stable and gives the painting character. Overall just a fun and unique piece. Painting is unsigned.
