Vintage James Owen Mahoney Verre Eglomise Painting

Phenomenal unique painting.
Painted in Rome at the American Academy circa 1933, by James Owen
Mahoney (1907-1987), Fruits of Harvest is executed on the reverse side of
glass in a technique called verre églomisé. Overall, the mural, made up of
24 individual glass panels, measures 6 feet high by 11 feet long. The
painting depicts mythical and heroic figures in a landscape of autumn colors
accented with gold leaf, terra cotta, vermillion and sapphire blue.
The work is extraordinary and singular example of the Art Deco Period. It
contains all the signature hallmarks of the Style with its mythical setting,
neo-classical images and animals.
