Vintage Original Neo-Impressionist Oil Painting from France Signed by Artist
About the Item
A colorful and striking piece of original art, undated but most likely from around the 1940s. This oil painting on wood-board has been sourced in France. The painting is signed by the artist, D. S. in the upper right corner. Unfortunately, the full name of this very skilled artist remains unknown. Clearly inspired by the great neo-impressionists, the artist has created a mesmerizing and colorful landscape scene with light, depth, movement and harmony. This artwork is a testimony to the great artistic skills of the artist.
The painting has been framed in an beautiful, solid and heavy wood frame. Very suitable for the artwork. The frame is 8 cm/ 3" wide and 6 cm/ 2 1/4" deep. It has a distressed finish in white/gray with a gilded outer edge. It is most likely the original frame.
In good vintage condition. The painting itself has not been cleaned, I leave that decision up to the new owner. However, the colors are surprisingly vivid. No missing paint or visible scratches on the surface. The wood-board shows minor superficial, vertical cracks especially in the upper right section (see photos). The frame has not been deep cleaned but left with its patina. It has signs of wear (build-ups, stains and other imperfections) consistent with age (see photos). The frame has no structural issues.
The painting is ready to be displayed, admired and enjoyed!
