Watercolor of Three Ships, 1905, Signed Edward John Russell, (American, 1832-1906) Naval Battle Scene This 19th-century watercolor painting depicts a dramatic naval scene with three sailing ships engaged in battle. The watercolor is after an engraving by George Coggeshall called the "Battle of the Dolphin with British Ship Hebe and Three Brothers", signed and dated in lower right corner "Ewd. J. Russell 1905."
