Vintage limited edition lithographic reproduction poster of "Marguerite Dufay" by 19th Century French artist Louis Anquestin (1861-1932)
Published in 1968 by The Sunday Times (London), the artwork is offered with its original matt presentation board. The piece is sold UNFRAMED.
This limited-edition poster is numbered 600/2000 in pencil and has the Sunday Times blind stamp (ST Limited Edition) in the lower left corner. It also includes printed text from the original Maîtres de l'Affiche lithograph in Paris, visible along the right side of the page.
This image was originally published as an advertisement for the French entertainer Marguerite Dufay who performed in Parisian music halls in the late 19th century. Classified as a ‘comique excentrique.’ Dufay was a comical eccentric performer who played not only regular musical instruments, like her trademark trombone, but also created instruments out of bottles, anvils, hammers, and the like.
