Angelo Testa Screenprint Textile, Framed

About the Item

Screenprint on linen with biomorphic animal motifs by Chicago-based painter, weaver, and fabric designer Angelo Testa. Literally the first student to graduate from Moholy-Nagy’s New Bauhaus/Chicago Institute of Design, Testa enjoyed a long career as one of the country’s foremost modernist textile designers. His boldly colored and geometrically abstract designs, using thick and thin lines, solid and outlined forms, and positive and negative spaces, were tailored to the postwar interior design trade, and were used by progressive furniture manufacturers such as Knoll (who also produced some of his patterns), Herman Miller, and Jens Risom. Signed lr in the print. Professionally stretched and framed.
