Colorful Cat, Hand Crafted Silk Screen Print, by R L Mulder

About the Item

This lithograph is based on an artwork of the artist, Robert L. Mulder, who used a cut-out technique probably inspired by the favorite work of Henri Matisse. He painted the rolls of paper, and then weighted them down so they dried flat. From there, he freehand cut shapes out of them and arrange them into a compositions showing a cat on the foreground. Robert L. Mulder was a part of the Portland Saturday Market from 1972 to 1997 with his paintings, silk screenings, watercolors, oils, acrylics, and ink and pencil drawings. He was selected to travel to China and Hong Kong as one of 50 American artists and art educators in a dialogue sponsored by the Kennedy Center and Ministry of Culture and by the Government Secretariat of Hong Kong in 1988.

  • 1960, Silk Screen Print "Peace One" by Reiko Momiyame, Japan
    Located in Weesp, NL
"Peace One" by Reiko Momiyame. A rare and beautiful Pop Art period silk screen print signed in pencil by the artist. The print is in great condition with strong bright vibrant colors of the period. Pop art is an art movement that emerged in the United Kingdom and the United States during the mid- to late-1950s. The movement presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane mass-produced objects. Amongst the early artists that shaped the pop art movement were Eduardo Paolozzi and Richard Hamilton in Britain, and Larry Rivers, Ray...
