EARLY 19th CENTURY LITHOGRAPH BY HENRIQUEL-DUPONT DEPICTING "THE HEMICYCLE OF TH

About the Item

Beautiful and unique print engraved by the famous French lithographer L.P. Henriquel-Dupont (1797-1892). This lithograph depicts "The Hemicycle of the Palace of Fine Arts," a famous painting created by the French painter Paul Delaroche (1797-1856) at the beginning of the 19th century. The painting, inspired by Raphael's famous "School of Athens," was conceived as a tribute to the great masters of the arts: painters, sculptors and architects. At the center of the painting, symbolically depicted as women, are the different artistic currents. In the center, sitting on thrones, are the great sculptors and architects of the ancient world: Phidias, Ictinus and Apelles. Henriquel-Dupont's black and white lithograph was impeccably crafted, fully conveying Delaroche's style, characterized by great attention to detail and linked to refined classicism. An interesting detail, which Dupont adds, is the presence of a small numbered legend that allows you to identify and recognize the various characters depicted. Without a doubt, this print is an unparalleled work of art. Measurements: HxWxD 73.5 x 290 x 3.5cm.
