This vintage Gould print is unframed and in good condition with strong fresh color.
There is some toning seen around the edges.

John Gould (1804-1881) was the most prolific artist and publisher of ornithological subjects of all time. Nearly 3,000 lithographs were created during the span of his long career.
418 species were depicted by the artist John Gould and his fellow artists H.C. Richter and William Hart. Each plate portrays brightly colored birds with the flowers native to their region. The Family of Hummingbirds series displays an amazing collection of hand-colored lithographs of hummingbirds. Gold leaf, transparent oil colors, watercolors, lacquers, and gum Arabic are added to capture the iridescent quality of these most beautiful of birds.
