About the Item
Authentic Antique Lithograph – Signed
This lithograph, titled “La Neige”, is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp.
The artwork is authentic and dates from the early 20th century.
Sold as is.
We note the following flaws: creases in the lower left and center, an ink mark on the right, a spot in the sky, and a stain above the rocks in the lower left. However, the lithograph remains visually pleasing.
We strive to report even the slightest imperfections. This print retains its original vibrant colors, and once framed, it will make a very decorative piece.
About the Artist:
Henri Rivière (1864–1951) was a French painter, printmaker, and illustrator. He began his career with drawing and later specialized in intaglio printmaking, particularly etching, starting in 1882. In 1886, he became stage director and scenographer for the shadow theatre at the Cabaret du Chat Noir, where he innovated with colorful set designs.
He later dedicated himself entirely to painting and printmaking, becoming a prominent figure in the history of etching, woodcut, lithography, and watercolor. He created around one thousand watercolors over his lifetime.

This print was originally produced by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec for "La Gitane" or 'The Gypsy," a drama by Jean Richepin in 4 acts. The play was first performed at the Theatre Antoine on January 22nd 1900. This poster was one of only two where Toulouse-Lautrec utilized a process where by several colors can be printed at one pass of the printing press as long as the color sequence is arranged in concert with the movement of the platen.
