About the Item

Overall this print is in great condition. There's some small creases due to handling, but no rips, nicks or discoloration. This print is unframed. This print was originally produced by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec for "La Gitane" or 'The Gypsy," a drama by Jean Richepin in 4 acts. The play was first performed at the Theatre Antoine on January 22nd 1900. This poster was one of only two where Toulouse-Lautrec utilized a process where by several colors can be printed at one pass of the printing press as long as the color sequence is arranged in concert with the movement of the platen. In this case, the man's cloak and the words "Theatre Antoine, La Gitane de Richepin" were printed concurrently.
