This lithograph is signed by Henri Rivière and bears a red stamp mark in the lower left corner.
The artwork is authentic and dates from the original period.
In the margins, there is a trimming defect at the top, along with small stains and fold marks.
On the image itself, small spots can also be observed.
The lithograph retains very fresh colors, and once framed, most of the imperfections will be barely noticeable.

About the Artist:
Henri Rivière (1864–1951) was a French painter, printmaker, and illustrator. He began his career as a draftsman, then moved into intaglio printmaking—especially etching—starting in 1882. In 1886, he also became a stage director and set designer for the shadow theatre at the famous Cabaret du Chat Noir, where he introduced the use of colored scenery, considered highly innovative at the time.
Later, Rivière devoted himself entirely to painting and printmaking and became a key figure in the history of etching, printmaking, wood engraving, lithography, and watercolor. Over the course of his career, he painted around one thousand watercolors.

This print was originally produced by Henri de Toulouse Lautrec for "La Gitane" or 'The Gypsy," a drama by Jean Richepin in 4 acts. The play was first performed at the Theatre Antoine on January 22nd 1900. This poster was one of only two where Toulouse-Lautrec utilized a process where by several colors can be printed at one pass of the printing press as long as the color sequence is arranged in concert with the movement of the platen.
