Set of Four Fores' National Sports Equestrian Prints by Herring

About the Item

Amazing set of four equestrian mid 19th century aquatint plates that have been hand-colored. Fores' national sports series after John Frederick Herring who did commissions from Queen Victoria, The Duke of Orlean, and George IV. The plates are each titled #1 Saddling, #2 A false start, #3 The Run in, and #4 Returning to weigh. The prints have incredibly intricate detail and color with a desirable weathered age on the paper.
