About the Item
All by Basilius Besler { 1561-1629] Besler was an apothecary and botanist and managed the gardens of Bishop Johann Conrad of Eichstatt, Germany. Besler created 'Hortus Eystettensis a book created with artists and engravers over sixteen years. These plates are hand colored and very early likely second of third state so likely were printed in the late 17th century.
