1819 Sampler made by Ann Wareing in Victorian period frame, English. An exquisitly preserved silk on fine linen sampler by Ann Wareing, May 12, 1819. A late George III piece in a Victorian bird's eye maple frame. Alphabet with extensive decoration of trees, birds, rabbits, a peacock & Adam & Eve with the Serpent & Tree of Life adorn the lower half & borders. Imperial crowns indicate an English origin. An outer border is hidden & there are minor losses at the bottom edge; small hole. 15" x 11.25" by sight. Frame: 17 5/8" x 15 1/8" x 3/4".
