1829 Sampler made by Elizabeth Ann Edmonds in period frame, English. An attractive George IV silk stitched sampler on fine background. Exquisite tiny stitches present a religious poem & a cartouche signed: Elizabeth Ann Edmonds, Aged 9 Yrs August 7th, 1829. Border is a chain of flowers. Great iconography. Exceptional work for a nine year old. In a period frame, black & gilt design with a cream backing. A few worm holes blend well with the backing. 10.5" x 11 5/8" by sight.
