19th Century French Aubusson Tapestry

About the Item

A fine Aubusson tapestry depicting a robed lady and several mischievous children bearing baskets of fruit, in a typically rural and architectural-themed landscape. A wide border on all four sides is densely decorated with flower-filled urns and vases, echoing the mood of abundance of the main design. The silk and hand-woven piece does have some small blemishes, in keeping with its age, but its colours remain bright and vivid.
