Large Aubusson Wall Tapestry "Poisson Volant" by Jean Lurçat, Atelier Tabard, France 1953. This gorgeous tapestry was created a few years before the big retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art in Paris which took place in 1958. The tapestry depicts a beautiful dreamlike scene with flying and swimming fish, butterflies and strange plants in an array of vibrant colors in contrast to the dark background. Bottom left with woven signature "Lurçat" and bottom right monogram from Atelier Tabard. Verso, bottom left with label: "D'après le carton de Jean Lurçat "Poisson Volant" Atelier Tabard. Width 230 cm Height 130 cm Very good condition.
