Victor Vasarely Tapestry

About

Victor Vasarely - Meyh Tapestry made by the workshop of Tabard Freres et Soeurs (Aubusson-France) circa 1969 Unique piece Bolduc with the original signatures of the artist on the back. Galerie Hadjer In 1951, the artist Victor Vasarely is already a master of the optical art movement op'art. He exhibited his paintings in Paris, in the gallery Denise Rene´, which mainly exhibits painters of geometric abstraction. Vasarely had the idea of composing a cardboard dedicated to tapestry, and he met Franc¸ois Tabard, director of one of the most important workshops of Aubusson. This is the beginning of a long and fruitful collaboration between the painter, the workshop and the gallery, until 1976. It may seem surprising that the painter of the optical illusion, whose pictorial production and research was considered at the time as an avant-garde approach, should be interested in the possibilities offered by the tapestry media. In fact, Vasarely wants to experiment his conclusions: "I will be a dimension and I develop my abstractions in space (polychrome functions and sculptural functions). The essential role of color in compositions constructed by Vasarely underlined the expertise of Tisserant and colorists of the Tabard workshop. The optical effect and the illusion of movement of most models designed by the artist is based on a very precise geometric network segmentation connected to each other, and again drawing the cardboard towards the tapestry which requiers a great deal.
